Beautiful land rediscovered.
A 68-hectare parcel of provincial Crown land along the North Saskatchewan River in southwest Edmonton, this area has a rich history as a traditional territory of Indigenous peoples. In the early 20th century, Big Island became a popular tourist and picnic destination, reachable by steamboat. The area contains abundant wildlife, mature balsam forest, and ecologically significant wetlands. Currently, there is no public road access to Big Island. Establishing Big Island will enable greater connectivity through the North Saskatchewan River Valley parks, which is Canada’s largest urban park.
Iconium Media has been a vendor of the Alberta Government since 2018, and was contacted with an RFP to enter a proposal for a video and was awarded the project to promote a “new land” that was being developed in the City of Edmonton.
Through a strategic discovery process, we identified the project's goals. Iconium Media conceived the concept, crafted a script, conducted engaging interviews, and filmed captivating footage of the land, including drone, which resulted in a powerful short video that tells a profound story.
